Super Duper Superjunior.
IT was splendid! That’s the perfect word to describe the concert held on March 20, at Bukit Jalil Putra Indoor Stadium.
Korean boy-band Super Junior (also known as Suju) wowed 15,000 ELFs (short form for Everlasting Friends — a name for Suju’s fans). Although three members were absent due to legal issues, the band managed very well as it rocked the night away at the stadium.
Fans from Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Indonesia turned up to show their support for Super Junior.
Tickets were sold out in just a week! Some of the die-hard ELFs were camping outside the venue the night before. I could feel the adrenaline rush as the doors opened at 6pm.
ELFs began chanting “Super Junior!” as the members walked through the entrance door.
ELFs were treated to two brief opening performances by Taiwan’s Thomas Jack & our own artiste, Ikhwal. The idols came onstage from 10 entrance positions at 8pm sharp, kicking off with A Man In Love, continuing with U, It’s You and She Wants It.
I definitely enjoyed the introduction where each member showcased their personal talents such as martial arts and solo dancing. The heat turned up when the solo performances started giving us Baby Baby, Insomnia, and Beautiful; Forgive Me and also Sonata Of Temptation.
Super Junior K.R.Y (the first sub-group in Super Junior) sang Heartquake with fellow member Eunhyuk performing a well-executed rap.
Heartquake is my favourite song besides Sorry Sorry.
The haunting melody of Heartquake really takes over your heart! The band even performed What If by Suju K.R.Y and Sungmin.
The boys were most energetic and powerful when they sang their heart-stopping hits Don’t Don and Twins Knock Out (their debut song). Shortly after that, they came out in casual clothes and sang Our Love.
Sungmin was busying recording and taking photos and videos of the ELFs with his mobile.
It was so adorable! An unforgettable moment was when they performed a nursery rhyme entitled Puff The Magic Dragon.
Heechul became the dragon in the play, accompanied by Shindong as a baby complete with a bib and a pacifier which drew bursts of laughter from the crowd. A beautiful moment was when the boys sang Shining Star.
The beautiful melody had the same effect as Celine Dion’s timeless Titanic theme song.
I even cried a little after listening and seeing the group members crying as they sang the song.
Then the much-awaited Sorry Sorry was performed.
The familiar synchronised dance moves had the crowd hopping and bopping along! It was bizarre when the boys cross-dressed to perform songs by a K-pop girl group.
They ended the night with Marry U.
I was disappointed when they left the stage.
The concert was enough to leave fans screaming from the start to finish.
